Role Overview
The Site Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating structured cabling projects in commercial buildings, office spaces, and data centre environments. This includes the management of small to medium-sized projects or contributing to larger-scale programs under the direction of a Project Manager.
You will manage onsite activities, ensuring all work meets the required technical, safety, and quality standards while delivering on-time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and supervisors, ensuring structured cabling installations are completed to specification, schedule, and quality standards.
- Conduct site-level Health & Safety duties, including risk assessments, method statements, and compliance with all H&S procedures.
- Oversee stock levels and material usage to support cost-effective project execution.
- Procure materials in line with project timelines and requirements.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports and updates to the Project Manager.
- Perform quality checks on all installation work to ensure adherence to technical standards and client expectations.
- Review and update site drawings throughout project phases.
- Attend client meetings, document key actions, and ensure timely follow-up and implementation.
- Produce all relevant project documentation to meet internal and client standards, including operations and maintenance manuals.
- Generate and implement patching schedules.
- Support urgent installation requirements as needed.
- Maintain a strong focus on maximising project profitability.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in the structured cabling industry, particularly within data centre and commercial office environments.
- Strong understanding of cabling installation practices, specifically Cat6/Cat6a systems.
- Familiarity with structured cabling systems used in financial or enterprise-grade environments.
- Experience organising and managing teams in a project-based setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support engineering teams.
- Able to work well under pressure and manage high-volume workloads.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confident in liaising with clients to understand project needs and deliver solutions accordingly.
