Our client delivers specialist infrastructure projects across the international data centre market, supporting hyperscale and enterprise customers from design through installation and handover. Its connectivity division is responsible for backbone fibre, structured cabling, rack installations and hardware deployment, including the physical infrastructure supporting large-scale AI environments.

You’ll take overall responsibility for major data centre connectivity projects, leading project managers and installation teams while overseeing client relationships, commercial performance and delivery standards.

This is a senior contractor-side role for someone with a detailed understanding of physical infrastructure delivery and the confidence to manage complex programmes, develop teams and resolve escalations.

Appointments at the upper end of the salary range will require substantial hyperscaler and/or physical AI infrastructure delivery experience, with particular value placed on NVIDIA GPU cluster deployments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead major connectivity projects or a portfolio of projects from bid and pre-construction through to completion and handover.
  • Manage and develop project managers, supervisors and installation teams, setting objectives and holding teams accountable for delivery.
  • Oversee project programmes, resource planning, procurement and coordination with other contractors.
  • Take responsibility for budgets, forecasting, margins and commercial risks, working closely with the commercial team.
  • Lead senior client relationships, chair progress reviews and resolve technical, commercial and programme escalations.
  • Oversee the delivery of backbone fibre, structured cabling, racks and associated hardware installations against approved designs and specifications.
  • Maintain strong health and safety leadership, ensuring effective risk assessments, method statements and quality controls.
  • Support bids by reviewing scope, installation methods, delivery schedules and resource requirements.
  • Drive testing, documentation, defect resolution and final acceptance to achieve successful project closeout.

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience in a comparable project delivery role, with a proven record leading connectivity packages on hyperscale data centre projects.
  • Strong contractor-side experience, including accountability for engineering teams, specialist subcontractors and installation delivery.
  • Experience leading project managers or multidisciplinary delivery teams on complex data centre programmes.
  • Detailed knowledge of fibre networks, structured cabling, rack installations and associated hardware deployment.
  • Strong commercial judgement, including responsibility for project budgets, forecasting, variations and profitability.
  • The ability to manage senior client relationships, negotiate solutions and take ownership of escalations.
  • A strong understanding of site health and safety, technical compliance, quality assurance and project handover.
  • Willingness to work on site in Central London and travel to UK and overseas client sites when required.

Highly desirable / advantageous

  • An “on the tools” background in fibre engineering, data cabling or a related installation discipline, followed by progression into project leadership.
  • Experience leading physical AI infrastructure deployments, particularly the rack, hardware and high-density connectivity installations supporting NVIDIA GPU clusters.
  • Experience managing international hyperscaler programmes or multiple concurrent data centre projects.
  • Relevant site safety qualifications and industry accreditations.
