Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (M&E Works)

About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Quantity Surveyor to oversee the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) packages on various construction projects based from our Wolverhampton office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of M&E works, ensuring best value and robust cost control from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all cost aspects relating to M&E packages, including procurement, tendering, budgeting, and valuation.
- Prepare and analyze costings for tenders and contracts.
- Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts, including payment notices, variations, and final accounts.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and design teams to assess project requirements and ensure alignment with budgets.
- Monitor progress on-site and provide commercial support to ensure project delivery within budget.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities relating to the M&E scope.
- Support value engineering exercises and contribute to design development from a commercial standpoint.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation (e.g., NEC/JCT contracts).
- Produce detailed cost reports and forecasts for senior management.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3โ5 yearsโ experience in a Quantity Surveying role, with proven experience in M&E works.
- Strong understanding of building services, including mechanical (HVAC, plumbing) and electrical systems.
- Familiar with relevant contract forms (JCT, NEC) and strong contractual awareness.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel; experience with QS software (e.g. Bluebeam, CostX, Causeway) is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
