The business designs, assembles, and delivers prefabricated MEP modules and plantroom solutions for large-scale commercial and district energy projects.

They are now seeking a Quality Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to support MEP and plantroom assembly on a major site-based project in London, Canary Wharf.

The Role

This is a site-based quality and engineering role focused on mechanical QA/QC within prefabricated MEP modules and plantrooms. You will oversee mechanical assembly, inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure installations meet design specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. You’ll work closely with assembly teams, design engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure high-quality, compliant delivery throughout the build lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the assembly and installation of mechanical systems within MEP modules and plantrooms, including pipework, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, and HVAC equipment.
  • Ensure installations are completed in line with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to assembly teams to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Inspect mechanical installations during and post-assembly, including dimensional checks, alignment, labelling, and tagging.
  • Witness and document pressure testing, flow testing, and leak detection for mechanical systems.
  • Record inspections, snags, defects, and corrective actions using digital QA/QC tools (e.g. FieldView), including photos and reports.
  • Ensure all snags are closed out and documented prior to stage sign-off and client validation.
  • Coordinate with electrical and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless MEP integration.
  • Support pre-commissioning activities, ensuring systems are ready for final commissioning.
  • Prepare and submit test reports, inspection records, and final QA documentation.
  • Provide progress updates to site and project management teams, flagging risks, issues, or delays.
  • Act as a QA/QC champion, driving consistent use of quality systems and processes on site.
  • Promote safe working practices in line with RAMS, raising concerns where unsafe conditions are identified.

Required Experience

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within MEP, plantrooms, or modular/offsite construction.
  • Hands-on experience assembling and inspecting mechanical systems in plantrooms or prefabricated modules.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, inspections, testing, and snag management.
  • Experience working in site-based, fast-paced project environments.
  • Ability to be client-facing and lead quality standards on site.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Good computer literacy and comfort with digital inspection tools.
  • Full driving licence.

  • Mechanical engineering or trade-related certifications (HVAC, piping, plant equipment).
  • Experience with chilled water welded pipework systems.
  • CSCS / CSR or equivalent.
  • Manual Handling, IPAF, Harness Awareness, Working at Height.
  • First Aid at Work or other safety-related certifications.
