A leading international digital infrastructure company is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Delivery Engineer to support the delivery of mission critical infrastructure projects across its East London campuses. This role will take ownership of the electrical delivery function across major data centre construction, expansion, and upgrade projects from design review through commissioning and handover.
The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for electrical systems delivery, coordinating consultants, contractors, commissioning teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest operational standards.
The Principal Electrical Delivery Engineer will oversee electrical infrastructure delivery across multiple mission critical projects including brownfield upgrades, live environment works, and new capacity expansions. The role combines technical design oversight, construction delivery management, QA/QC governance, and commissioning coordination within high-availability data centre environments.
This is a client-side leadership role requiring strong experience in data centre electrical systems, contractor management, and project delivery within Tier III/Tier IV or hyperscale environments.
Project Delivery & Technical Oversight- Lead delivery of electrical infrastructure projects from RIBA Stage 3 through commissioning and handover
- Review and validate electrical design documentation, specifications, drawings, and technical submittals
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, vendors, and specialist suppliers throughout project execution
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget, quality, and operational requirements
- Provide electrical engineering leadership across critical infrastructure upgrades and expansions
- Support infrastructure associated with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, and busbar systems
- Ensure resilience, redundancy, and maintainability principles are incorporated into project delivery
- Review electrical testing procedures, energisation plans, and commissioning strategies
- Support integration of electrical systems with BMS, EPMS, and critical facility controls
- Monitor contractor installation quality and compliance with project standards
- Lead QA/QC activities, inspections, snagging, and technical reviews
- Coordinate IST, SAT, FAT, and integrated commissioning activities
- Ensure safe execution of works within live operational data centre environments
- Support operational readiness and project handover documentation
Act as the primary interface between engineering, operations, delivery, and external partners. Provide technical reporting and project updates to senior leadership teams. Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute, health & safety, and regulatory standards. Participate in risk reviews, change management, and technical governance processes.
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Extensive experience delivering mission critical or data centre infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of MV/LV electrical distribution systems within critical environments. Experience working across design review, construction, commissioning, and handover phases. Experience managing contractors and consultants on large-scale construction projects. Familiarity with RIBA project stages and live environment project delivery. Strong understanding of commissioning, QA/QC, and electrical testing processes.
