An established organisation operating within the built environment sector is seeking a skilled BIM/CAD Technician to support the delivery of integrated technology solutions for commercial and residential projects. The role focuses on producing high-quality technical drawings and models for structured cabling, security systems, audio-visual solutions, and smart building technologies.

A detail-oriented BIM/CAD Technician with approximately 5 years' experience in structured cabling, security systems, and audio-visual design. Experienced in producing accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings and BIM models using industry-standard CAD and BIM software.
The role includes specialist involvement in Wi-Fi heatmap survey design and CCTV field-of-view (FOV) planning, supporting optimal network coverage and surveillance performance. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, compliant, and well-documented design solutions.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD
- Develop coordinated 3D models, 2D outputs, and COBie data using Revit
- Design structured cabling systems
- Produce layouts for security systems, including CCTV and access control
- Support audio-visual system integration
- Design cable tray and containment pathways
- Perform clash detection and coordination within BIM models
- Measure pre-terminated cable lengths using specialist software
- Support project delivery, bid preparation, and small works packages
- Provide project coordination and technical documentation
Wi-Fi Heatmap Survey
- Design and carry out Wi-Fi network surveys using specialist survey software
- Produce heatmaps, reports, and supporting documentation
CCTV Field of View (FOV)
- Design and optimise CCTV camera layouts using specialist CCTV design software
- Select appropriate cameras and lenses to maximise coverage
- Produce supporting documentation and reports
General Responsibilities
- Create and maintain accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings including plans, elevations, sections, and schematics
- Learn and utilise specialist design tools for Wi-Fi surveys, CCTV FOV, and cable measurement
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Integrate smart building technologies such as IoT devices, sensors, and automated systems into designs
- Maintain and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle
- Review drawings for accuracy, compliance, and consistency with standards
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations, safety standards, and best practices
- Organise and manage CAD files and project documentation effectively
- Maintain good file management and digital housekeeping practices
- Stay up to date with advancements in CAD/BIM software and building technologies
