A CAD / BIM Technician is required to support the delivery of infrastructure and telecommunications design solutions across multiple projects. The role involves producing, maintaining, and updating technical drawings and BIM models to support telecoms networks, data centre infrastructure, and associated civil / building works.
You will work closely with design engineers, project managers, and site teams to ensure accurate, coordinated, and buildable design information is produced and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Produce and update 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for infrastructure and telecoms projects
- Support design teams with layout drawings for structured cabling, fibre networks, containment systems, and associated infrastructure
- Maintain drawing standards, templates, and version control in line with project requirements
- Coordinate design information between disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and telecoms)
- Assist in producing as-built drawings based on site feedback and redline mark-ups
- Support data centre and network infrastructure designs, including rack layouts, cable pathways, and equipment placement
- Ensure compliance with internal design standards and client specifications
- Liaise with engineers and site teams to interpret design changes and update documentation accordingly
- Support BIM coordination processes, including clash detection reviews where applicable
- Manage drawing documentation within project information management systems (e.g. CDE platforms)
- Experience in a CAD or BIM technician role within infrastructure, telecoms, or data centre environments
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (essential)
- Extensive experience using Autodesk Revit for BIM modelling and project delivery (essential requirement)
- Experience with structured cabling systems, fibre networks, or telecoms infrastructure design
- Experience producing technical drawings for installation or construction projects
- Familiarity with working in multi-discipline engineering environments
- Experience working with redline mark-ups and as-built documentation updates
- Understanding of basic data centre or critical infrastructure layouts is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing production
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches and technical requirements
- Good communication skills for working with engineers and site teams
- Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines
- Organised approach to document control and version management
- Comfortable working in structured project delivery environments
- Experience in telecoms infrastructure, fibre networks, or data centre environments
- Exposure to GIS systems or network mapping tools
- Understanding of IMACD environments or live infrastructure changes
- Familiarity with ISO 19650 BIM standards
- Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or multi-site projects
