A leading engineering and infrastructure solutions provider within the critical environments sector is seeking an experienced Electrical Sales Engineering Manager to support the growth of complex electrical projects across mission-critical facilities and large-scale infrastructure environments. This role will lead the electrical sales engineering function, supporting the full bid and pre-construction lifecycle from technical qualification through to early project handover. The successful candidate will combine strong electrical engineering expertise with commercial awareness, helping develop technically compliant and commercially competitive solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical qualification of opportunities, identifying client requirements, programme constraints, compliance obligations, and site-specific challenges.
  • Develop electrical solution designs including LV distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, containment, earthing and bonding systems, and associated critical infrastructure.
  • Produce and review technical submissions including proposals, schematics, equipment schedules, methodologies, and risk assessments.
  • Support bid engineering activities including take-offs, BOQs, labour estimates, value engineering, and cost optimisation strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, consultants, and supply chain partners to ensure designs comply with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Manage technical elements of tenders, RFPs, and RFQs, supporting client presentations and bid interviews.
  • Work closely with commercial and sales teams to deliver accurate and competitive proposals, including pricing, programme, exclusions, and risk considerations.
  • Conduct supplier and subcontractor technical reviews and clarifications throughout the tender process.
  • Develop and maintain standardised technical solutions, proposal templates, and pricing structures.
  • Act as a key technical interface for clients during pre-construction and solution development stages.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders including consultants, contractors, facilities teams, and project delivery teams.
  • Support project handover activities, ensuring design intent, technical scope, and commercial commitments are clearly communicated to delivery teams.
  • Provide technical support during early delivery phases including RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Mentor and support sales engineers and estimators, implementing quality standards and continuous improvement processes.
  • Promote high standards of safety, compliance, and engineering excellence across all commercial activities.

Requirements

  • Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Strong background delivering electrical solutions within data centres, critical infrastructure, mission-critical, or large commercial construction environments.
  • Previous experience within pre-construction, bid engineering, sales engineering, or technical solutions roles.
  • Strong technical understanding of LV systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, containment, and critical power infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards including BS7671 and CDM regulations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce detailed engineering documentation.
  • Commercial understanding of estimating, pricing strategy, risk management, and tender processes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
