About the Role
We are partnering with a leading IT infrastructure and data centre solutions provider to recruit a Senior Design Consultant. This role will act as the lead consultant across strategic and key accounts, ensuring high-quality design and estimation outputs at both pre-sales and post-sales stages. You will work closely with sales, commercial, and operations teams to manage technical cost submissions, coordinate revisions, and oversee post-sales deliverables—including construction drawings, variation responses, and site surveys. The focus is on optimising revenues, margins, and project success by aligning design outputs with client expectations and the company’s commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Sales & Design Development: Prepare client responses, quotations, and technical/commercial assessments to support sales in evaluating project viability, risks, and opportunities. Lead and coordinate internal resources for timely delivery of tender submissions and design packages. Collaborate with sales and commercial teams to develop account plans and pricing strategies. Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants during formal design meetings and presentations. Develop pre-contract information and manage Pre-Contract Review (PCR) processes to mitigate risks.
- Post-Sales Support & Project Delivery: Coordinate design changes and manage variations, ensuring compliance with contractual frameworks. Review and validate tender cost proposals and Bills of Materials (BoMs) for accuracy and stakeholder approval. Deliver detailed design outputs such as general arrangement plans, cabinet layouts, density drawings, and schematics. Conduct peer reviews of team members’ work, mitigating risk and mentoring junior consultants.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Proactively mentor and develop allocated resources. Maintain awareness of industry standards and evolving data centre requirements, sharing knowledge across the team.
Candidate Requirements
Essential: Extensive experience in Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling and ICT solutions. Proven track record designing structured cabling solutions. Experience delivering Hyperscale Data Centre projects. Strong communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex technical information clearly. Ability to manage multiple priorities and develop detailed design packages effectively.
Preferred: RCDD, CNIDP, or CDCP qualifications. Accredited manufacturer training.
Skills & Competencies: Leadership and team coordination, Technical design expertise in structured cabling, Client engagement and presentation skills, Risk management and attention to detail, Commercial awareness and ability to align designs with business objectives.
