Technical Manager – Data Centre Projects Location: London, Greater London, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 About the Rol eAn established technology and digital infrastructure organisation are seeking an experienced Technical Manage r to support the successful delivery of Hyperscale Data Centre projects .This position combines technical leadership, operational expertise, and project delivery to ensure seamless execution from bid stage through to project completion. Working closely with Sales, Pre-Sales, Commercial, Project Management, and Operations teams, the successful candidate will provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are operationally deliverable, commercially viable, and aligned with client requirements .The role requires extensive experience delivering large-scale data centre infrastructure projects, strong technical knowledge of ICT and structured cabling environments, and the ability to act as the technical authority for both internal teams and customers . Key Responsibiliti esPresales & Technical Suppo rt• Support the Sales team with PQQs, technical submissions, and operational input during bid activitie s.• Provide technical expertise to Pre-Sales teams to strengthen proposals and identify delivery risk s.• Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation during tender stage s.• Identify technical risks, discrepancies, and Requests for Information (RFIs) prior to project awar d.• Support Commercial teams with technical contract reviews and scope validatio n.• Assist in developing project schedules and delivery strategies during bid stage s. Pre-Construction & Project Deliv ery• Lead pre-construction activities to ensure a seamless transition from project award to site mobilisati on.• Coordinate project readiness by ensuring documentation, approvals, and lead-in activities are complet ed.• Develop and maintain installation, commissioning, and testing tracke rs.• Advise Project Directors, Operations Managers, and Project Managers on project-specific testing requiremen ts.• Ensure quality assurance reviews and governance processes are completed throughout delive ry.• Monitor project risks and provide technical assessments to project teams and clien ts. Technical Leader ship• Act as the technical lead for Data Centre infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecy cle.• Provide leadership and technical guidance across multidisciplinary delivery te ams.• Support the development and implementation of operational best practices and delivery proces ses.• Review and enhance project documentation to improve consistency and qual ity.• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, project execution, and operational efficie ncy.• Support technical problem solving throughout project deliv ery. Client & Stakeholder Engag ement• Develop strong working relationships with clients and key stakehol ders.• Provide technical guidance and recommendations aligned with customer requirem ents.• Present technical solutions and project updates to both internal and external stakehol ders.• Communicate project risks, technical challenges, and mitigation strategies effecti vely.• Support long-term customer relationships through high-quality technical leadership and deli very. Operational & Continuous Impro vement• Evaluate existing project delivery methodologies and recommend improve ments.• Support the development of technical standards, templates, and operational document ation.• Ensure compliance with internal processes, quality standards, and contractual obliga tions.• Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery func tions.• Support strategic business initiatives and technical projects as req uired. Candidate Requ irementsE ssential• Proven experience delivering Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling, ICT, or Electronic Security projects in a manageme nt role.• Demonstrated experience delivering Hyperscale Data Centre p rojects.• Strong project management experience within technical infrastructure envir onments.• Experience managing multi-site project delivery and technica l teams.• Strong understanding of technical drawings, specifications, schematics, and construction docume ntation.• Experience delivering projects under formal subcontract agr eements.• Proven ability to develop, review, and improve technical and project delivery docume ntation.• Experience supporting or leading technical pre-sales and bid act ivities.• Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinar y teams.• Good understanding of project contracts, scope management, and commercial deliv erables.• Working knowledge of PRINCE2 or equivalent project management method ologies. Desirable• Experience within data centre construction or digital infrastructure envi ronments.• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best p ractices.• Experience with project quality assurance and governance p rocesses.• Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and handover ac tivities.• Experience supporting international or large-scale enterprise infrastructure dep loyments.
