The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to play a key role in the next phase of growth across the data centre and business-critical infrastructure sector. Reporting to the CEO and joining the Senior Management Team, this is a newly created, high-impact role combining technical leadership, commercial growth, customer engagement and service development. The role is primarily commercial rather than operational. You will help win complex opportunities, shape technical solutions, develop new services, build strategic partnerships and provide senior technical assurance across the business. Initially, the role will operate without direct reports and will require someone who can influence across sales, operations, delivery and leadership through credibility and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior technical authority for major bids, tenders, pre-sales and customer engagements.
- Work with sales to shape complex opportunities and develop commercially compelling solutions.
- Translate customer requirements into practical, deliverable and profitable technical propositions.
- Identify and develop new services, propositions and routes to market.
- Build business cases covering customer value, pricing, risk and commercial potential.
- Contribute technical and market insight to company strategy and growth plans.
- Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team on technical, commercial and market opportunities.
- Provide technical assurance on complex scopes, proposals, RAMS and business-critical projects.
- Develop strategic relationships with technology vendors, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Support expansion into new markets across the UK and Europe.
- Promote technical standards, quality, continuous improvement and best practice.
Your Experience
You will have substantial senior-level experience within the data centre, IT infrastructure or business-critical infrastructure sector, ideally within a service provider, systems integrator, operator, manufacturer or related environment. Experience should include several of the following:
- Data centre infrastructure and operations
- Physical IT infrastructure
- Technology relocations and hardware deployment
- Server, network infrastructure and structured cabling
- Data centre migration and deployment
- Technical solution design and pre-sales
- Complex bids and tenders
- Technical assurance and RAMS
- Service development and commercial propositions
- Pricing, margin and risk management
- Strategic supplier and customer management
