Buyer Fashion Stationery – Location: Swindon Support Centre (hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office)

About the role
We’re seeking a strategic, commercially astute, results-driven Buyer to join our High Street Fashion Stationery team, based at our Support Centre in Swindon.
In this role, you’ll be delivering maximum sales and profitability through determining the offers we make to our customers and successfully managing both the trading activities and profit and loss. It takes a flair for relationship building, negotiation and an analytical approach. Key responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for achieving agreed margin, sales, and contribution targets by selecting and developing profitable new lines, while managing stock budgets and open-to-buy
- Drive own brand product development as a key focus, ensuring the creation of innovative, market-leading ranges
- Build strong supplier relationships, negotiating cost reductions, first-to-market advantages, and supplier income opportunities, while ensuring effective supply chain and cost management
- Oversee the critical path and range delivery, leading the development of innovative marketing plans and executing effective range reviews and analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Stay ahead of market trends, customer demands, and competitor activity to identify commercial opportunities
- Foster open and effective communication with stores via central operations and regular store visits

- An experienced retail Buyer ideally with stationery or general merchandise expertise
- Strong own brand NPD experience essential
- A commercial mindset is essential, with the ability to analyse sales performance, recognising opportunities and risks to support trade decisions
- You will be passionate about product and pro-active in developing product and industry trends to support innovation and growth within your category
- Engagement and influencing skills will allow you to develop strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- You will be a proven leader in managing, coaching and developing your team to succeed
