Great with people and love creating brilliant family experiences? If you’re a confident leader who thrives in a busy environment, we’d love to meet you.
Grass Hoppers is our indoor and outdoor play areas; with play, parties, food and plenty going on!
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Supervisor who can bring all of that together. Someone who can lead and develop a team, keep Health & Safety front of mind and make sure our families have a brilliant experience from the moment they arrive.
This isn’t a role where you’ll supervise from the sidelines. You’ll be right in the middle of the action and, on the Play Manager’s days off, you’ll be the person in charge, making sure the team and operation run safely and smoothly.
🙌 Leading and developing your team
A big part of this role is people management. We want someone who enjoys getting the best out of their team and is comfortable having the conversations that come with being a great supervisor.
You’ll be:
- Leading, motivating and supporting our Grass Hoppers Assistants covering play, catering, parties, reception and cleaning.
- Holding regular Time to Talk conversations and checking in with your team
- Supporting probation reviews and helping new starters settle in and succeed
- Giving feedback, recognising great work and helping your team develop
- Completing 1-to-1s and following up on agreed actions
- Organising the team throughout the day, including allocating tasks and breaks
- Leading from the front and getting stuck in alongside the team when things get busy
Previous experience of supervising or managing a team is essential for the role.
🦺 Keeping everyone safe
With children and families enjoying our indoor and outdoor play areas, Health & Safety is a really important part of the job.
You’ll help make sure Grass Hoppers is a safe place to visit and work, including:
- Making sure daily H&S, equipment and operational checks are completed properly
- Keeping a close eye on our play areas and equipment throughout the day
- Managing visitor numbers and making sure sessions don’t exceed capacity
- Acting quickly if something isn’t right and making sure faulty equipment is reported
- Keeping the team focused on safe ways of working, even when we’re at our busiest
🎉 Creating brilliant family experiences
Of course, we’re here to make sure our visitors have a fantastic time too.
You’ll be involved across the whole Grass Hoppers experience, from:
- 👋 Giving families a warm welcome and great customer service
- 🎉 Helping our children’s parties run smoothly and making sure they feel special
- 🍔 Getting involved with the catering side of Grass Hoppers and helping food and drink service run smoothly
- 🏃 Managing busy play sessions and keeping everything flowing
- 🎈 Supervising our indoor and outdoor play areas and equipment
- 💬 Handling customer questions, feedback and the occasional tricky situation
- 📋 Keeping on top of timesheets, daily checklists and the day-to-day organisation of the team
- 🙌 Jumping in wherever you’re needed when things get busy
The role really is varied. One minute you could be supporting a member of your team, the next checking a play area, helping a party run smoothly, supporting food service or speaking with a family.
⭐ Is this you?
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have previous experience supervising or managing a team
- Take H&S seriously and understand how important it is to get the basics right, every time
- Are brilliant with customers and enjoy creating great experiences
- Can keep your cool and make sensible decisions when things get busy
- Are organised and comfortable juggling people, customers, parties, food service and play
- Lead from the front and aren’t afraid to roll your sleeves up
- Feel confident taking charge when the Play Manager isn’t there
