Role summary: A hands-on, construction role supporting delivery of timber-frame and modular projects across education, leisure, and the public sector. You will assist Project Management teams to ensure works are completed safely, on time, and within budget while developing technical, commercial, and site-management skills. This will be both an internal and external client-facing role, with structured on-the-job training, mentoring from senior project staff, and a clear pathway to a full Project Manager position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers and Site Managers with project delivery.
  • Day-to-day coordination of site activities, subcontractors, and trades ensuring programmes remain on track.
  • Help maintain and update build programmes; flag potential risks that may cause delays and support plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Attend site visits, carry out progress checks, record progress, and report issues to the project and leadership teams.
  • In conjunction with the HSEQ Manager, support toolbox talks, risk assessments, site audits, and assist in ensuring H&S documentation is kept up to date.
  • Provide procurement and logistics support by liaising with TGE Procurement to ensure materials, plant, and deliveries are programmed to meet site requirements.
  • Assist with QA checks and ensure site works meet high-quality standards.
  • Prepare meeting notes, support pre-start and handover meetings, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Maintain project files, update budgets, Variation Orders, and the PDR (Project Delivery Roadmap) as required by the Project Manager.

Required skills and experience:

  • Education: Degree or HND in Construction Management, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering or equivalent, or demonstrable sector experience.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings plus familiarity with construction terminology.
  • Competent with MS Office and willingness to become familiar with TGE adopted project management and support tools (MS Project/Bluebeam).
  • Strong written and verbal skills; comfortable liaising with site teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Good administrative skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Proactive, team player with a desire to learn and progress in construction project management.

‘Nice to Have’ qualifications and attributes:

  • Health & safety: CSCS card, SMSTS or equivalent, First Aid, scaffold awareness or Fire Marshall training.
  • Interest in working toward MCIOB or similar professional accreditation.
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport.
  • Any experience or interest in timber-frame, modular, or net-zero construction is an advantage.
