Senior Engineering Technician

Location: Arla Foods, Settle Creamery, BD24 9AF

Shift pattern: (Earlies, Days & Nights / 7:00am-4:30pm 5 day Block / rotating 6-6 12 hour shifts)

Note: Due to the site closure which we estimate to be in the second half of 2027, we are offering an enhanced reward and support package to support our colleagues. This includes a pro rata retention payment (25% of average annual salary) as well as a redundancy payment based on length of service (no 2-year minimum service needed). We are also offering relocation support for colleagues staying with Arla following site closure as well as out service support for those colleagues who choose not to stay.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will:

  • Respond to breakdowns and perform planned preventative maintenance.
  • Engage in continuous improvement (CI) and project work.
  • Contribute to Arla’s continued growth and operation of state-of-the-art equipment.

This role involves work on equipment including: milk pasteurisation, homogenisers, separators, process systems, filers, cartoners, bottle labellers, cappers, packers, blow moulding machines, weighers, flow wrappers, shrink wrappers, trolley packers, palletisers and depalletisers, conveyor lines (chain, spiral), robots (Kuka), vision systems, Spectrum TX rejection systems, and OEM systems from Siemens, Krones, Tetra Pak, SPX flow, Isoma, Hueft, Nepas, Alpla & Grunwald.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Ambition & drive
  • Strong experience as a multiskilled engineer (shift engineer/maintenance engineer/engineering technician)
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical engineering within manufacturing, production and process environments
  • HNC or apprentice trained or proven experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience with fast-moving machinery, pumps, valves, inverter drives, sensors, relays, PLCs (Siemens), site services (steam generation plant, chilled water systems, compressors, processes), CIP systems
  • Computer literacy – SAP, Microsoft Office, SCADA, Trend systems, HMIs
  • Time served as Multi-Skilled Engineer within a manufacturing environment
