The Project Sponsor is the project lead for delivery and will engage with clients, operations and implementation teams to enable successful delivery of transport enhancement schemes into operation on behalf of Transport for Wales (Tf W).

  • Role responsibilities
  • Act as the client representative, and informed point of contact for commercial and operational matters relating to the delivery of transport enhancement schemes by monitoring, partnering and communicating with project delivery teams for effective delivery.
  • Track the alignment of the scheme against the programme business case by working across a portfolio of projects to mitigate project risks and ensure effective interface between schemes.
  • Planning delivery of a project to its completion date by reviewing timelines months in advance to understand the potential challenges, for effective programme management.
  • Deliver the transport projects by coordinating internal and external stakeholders and their requirements whilst maintaining services to our customer.
  • Provide effective delivery of projects through benefits realisation to meet the requirements of the client and measure success.
  • Act as the Tf W client to Network Rail, Welsh Government, Local Authorities and the Infrastructure Development (capex) team by working closely with this team to support and facilitate the safe, effective and efficient delivery of transport enhancement schemes.
  • Manage projects within the portfolio by monitoring competing and complementary projects are integrated and recommend decisions based on best for passenger and best for client.
  • dentify areas of best practice by implementing and adhering to a governance framework that promotes continuous improvement.
  • Who we're looking for
  • Previous experience in project management with an understanding of project lifecycles.
  • Experience of managing stakeholders, with the ability to communicate challenges and potential solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning, prioritising and consistently delivering work to a high standard and by the required deadline.
  • Experience of leading and managing investment schemes.
  • Experience of working across projects and identify interconnecting issues with other projects.
  • Experience of preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience of effective client relationship management in delivering schemes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) with good influencing and presentation skills.
  • Welsh Language Skills
