Location
Thames Valley Fertility (TVF) is located on the outskirts of Maidenhead, adjacent to junction 8/9 of the M4. TVF performs approximately 550 fresh cycles and 450 frozen cycles per year, offers a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services, including PGT, and has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA. Our state‑of‑the‑art laboratory was purpose‑built in 2017 and is equipped with the latest laboratory equipment and monitoring systems.
Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Deputy Laboratory Manager to join our team of highly skilled and dedicated scientists. As well as contributing to the clinical workload, the successful candidate will have opportunities to be involved in training junior embryologists, service development, research, quality management, donor recruitment and project work. The Deputy Laboratory Manager will support the Laboratory Manager in the delivery of the service and management of the laboratory team.
Key Responsibilities
- Full range of clinical procedures, including ICSI, vitrification and PGT
- Communicate with patients about treatment options and results
- Quality Management – support audit, document control, non‑compliance, quality control/assurance
- Assisting in the management of imports/exports, donor recruitment and stored gametes/embryos
- Resource management – staffing, consumables and equipment
- Operational management – rota’s and workflow
- Monitor KPI’s and identify areas for improvement
- Training, induction and assisting in the performance management of new and junior staff
- Regulatory compliance
- Assisting in the delivery of group‑level projects
Job Requirements
- Minimum of a degree in Life Sciences, preferably an MSc or PhD
- HCPC Registered (or immediately eligible)
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, some preferably at a senior/management level
- Fully trained in all clinical laboratory procedures, preferably including biopsy
- Advanced knowledge of the UK Regulatory Framework
- Self‑motivated, eager to learn and resilient
- High level of attention to detail and focus
- Excellent communication skills

Working Hours
37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday. Weekend rotation approximately 1:4 (renumerated with TOIL/overtime).
On‑Call
Working approximately 1:4 in coordination with weekends (remunerated with a daily rate of pay in addition to the basic salary).
Pension
Dual contribution pension scheme.
Holiday Entitlement
27 days + bank holidays (pro rata).
