At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses a fighting chance against the giants of the high street.

Your Mission

We are looking for an innovative, self‑driven, customer‑centric Senior Payments Specialist to join our product team. In this role, you will translate business needs into functional requirements, work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of impactful payment solutions. You will thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment where agility and strategic thinking are essential. You will join the Financial Shared Services domain within our Technology organisation, which exists to deliver best‑in‑class financial services and products to our merchants. More specifically, you will be part of the Payments team, responsible for daily merchant settlements. The team strives to deliver timely, reliable settlement processes while strategically optimising and reducing settlement cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritise tasks in line with project timelines, ensuring key milestones are delivered.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to elaborate user stories and ensure clarity around acceptance criteria and deliverables.
  • Communicate with subject matter experts, system users, and external clients to identify and evaluate business opportunities.
  • Apply your working knowledge of SWIFT, ISO 20022, Faster Payments Services, BACS, and SEPA to shape solutions.
  • Assess the impact of new systems, services, or products to ensure alignment with broader business needs.
  • Partner with compliance, tax, legal, and accounting teams to ensure new features and products are compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Develop and maintain feature roadmaps, using data‑driven insights to inform prioritisation decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or science‑related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the finance or payments industry.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working closely with engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for customer insights and value propositions.
  • High attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering products or features end‑to‑end.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.

The Perks

  • Physical and mental health support through our partnership with GymPass giving free access to over 1,500 gyms in the UK, 1-1 therapy, meditation sessions, digital fitness, and nutrition apps.
  • Our company offers extended and improved maternity and paternity leave choices, giving employees more flexibility and support.
  • Cycle-to-Work Scheme.
  • Health and Life Insurance.
  • Pension Scheme.
  • 25 days of Annual Leave (+ Bank Holidays).
  • Office snacks every day.
  • Friendly, comfortable, and informal office environment in Central London.
