Hello! We’re Teya. Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance. At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities. We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street. We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters. We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us. Become a part of our story. We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

Your Mission

As a Lead Frontend Developer at Loyverse, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our web platform that empowers merchants in the retail industry. The platform spans payment acceptance, inventory management, sales analytics, loyalty programs, employee management, and multi-location business operations. You will own and drive our frontend architecture vision across the organisation, leading a critical migration from AngularJS to Angular 15 while ensuring scalable, efficient, and intuitive solutions. With deep expertise in modern web development patterns and enterprise SaaS platforms, you will influence key technical decisions, champion best practices, and establish foundations that accelerate development across teams. Above all, we seek a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset—someone eager to grow with the company, take ownership of complex challenges, and create exceptional web experiences that revolutionise how retail businesses operate globally.

As a Principal Frontend Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the full migration strategy for 600+ legacy AngularJS files using hybrid upgrade patterns.
  • Defining scalable architectural standards across 9+ domain modules and shared component libraries.
  • Designing and implementing clean, intuitive, and well-tested web interfaces using Angular 15 and modern web technologies.
  • Driving frontend architecture decisions and establishing best practices across the web platform.
  • Creating reusable components and design systems to accelerate development across teams.
  • Championing code quality, performance optimisation, and automated testing in frontend development.
  • Leading technical discussions and influencing frontend strategy at an organisational level.
  • Mentoring and coaching other frontend engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Staying ahead of web development trends and evaluating emerging technologies for adoption.
  • Collaborating with product, backend, and DevOps teams to deliver world-class user experiences.
  • Building tools and frameworks to improve frontend development efficiency and quality.
  • Optimising build pipelines, bundle sizes, and runtime performance for enterprise-scale applications.
  • Continuously improving processes while maintaining empathy and consideration for team members.

Your Story

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional frontend development with strong technical leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale AngularJS to Angular migrations.
  • Deep expertise with TypeScript, RxJS, Angular 15+, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of state management patterns, performance tuning, and testing strategies.
  • Experience with monorepo architectures, Nx, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
  • Expertise in performance optimisation, build tools, and debugging web applications.
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and multi-tenant architectures.
  • Familiarity with retail/POS software, payment flows, or inventory systems (a plus).
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication skills in English, enabling effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Understanding of observability tools (Sentry, NewRelic, FullStory) and monitoring practices.

Key Challenges

  • Complete the AngularJS to Angular 15 migration with zero downtime.
  • Eliminate hybrid overhead and reduce application load times below 2 seconds.
  • Design scalable architecture supporting 9+ business domains and multiple engineering teams.
  • Improve developer experience, tooling efficiency, and build speed.
  • Ensure production stability while modernising legacy systems.
