We recognise that our success, and future success, is tied directly to our people. We are seeking a Production Planner who will be responsible for translating the approved manufacturing plan into a feasible, detailed, and executable production schedule. Acting as the critical link between planning and shop floor execution, the role ensures customer demand is met while optimising capacity, materials, labour, and sequencing. The Production Planner is the single point of truth for what is produced, when it is produced, and in what sequence – playing a key role in maintaining service levels, schedule stability, and operational performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
About the Role
- Convert the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into a finite, executable weekly production plan and release work orders accordingly.
- Lead daily production meetings, reviewing prior day performance, constraints, and recovery actions.
- Report weekly performance against plan, highlighting risks, recoveries, and trends.
- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Production teams to confirm material availability prior to order release.
- Ensure continuity of production and achievement of customer delivery targets on time.
- Evaluate machine, labour, and shift capacity to identify bottlenecks, overloads, and constraints.
- Actively manage schedule deviations caused by equipment breakdowns, labour shortages, urgent customer demand, quality issues, or material shortages.
- Reprioritise orders and adjust sequencing in real time to minimise service impact.
- Escalate risks and roadblocks to achieving the weekly plan, working closely with Buyers, Demand Planners, and Production leadership.
- Communicate schedule changes clearly and promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
- Produce weekly KPI reporting, insights, and continuous improvement recommendations.
- Support specific projects and additional duties as required.
About You
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a Supply Chain/Engineering/Business related field, or relevant experience considered in lieu.
- Three or more years experience in a similar Production Planning or Scheduling role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience working with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including analysis and reporting of large data sets.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex data visually and verbally.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to present data driven recommendations to management.
- Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to interface effectively with cross functional teams across Production, Supply Chain, and Planning.
- Effective time management skills, including the ability to multitask.
- Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.
- Detail oriented, action focused and takes pride in delivering high quality work.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining clear communication on progress, issues, and priorities.
