We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with strong welding and fixture design expertise to support shop-floor operations, particularly within the Weld Shop. This hands-on role provides technical leadership and day-to-day support, driving improvements in productivity, safety, quality, and layout efficiency through robust fixture design and lean manufacturing principles.

About the Role

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement efficient and safe work methods, lean material process flows, and ensure equipment and tooling for products is efficient and cost effective. Safety guidelines should be actively promoted and always adhered to.
  • Design, develop and maintain fixtures such that the fabrication shops are set up to manufacture parts which are correct to drawing as validated by the Quality team.
  • Maintain current production processes and drive productivity, assembly improvements considering human factors such as ergonomics and process buy-in, and product improvements.
  • Process and implement Engineering Change Notices for products to ensure the design is producible as drawn, methods are defined via routing, and that all time standards, process plans, work plans, and tool orders are defined appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the Design Engineering, Fulfilment, Planning and Purchasing teams to ensure a smooth and timely introduction of parts and products into production.
  • Provide technical development and project support for team members as required.
  • Work on and manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Plan and implement shop layouts to improve material flow and increase plant capacity, to include coordinating placement of new equipment to optimize existing shop capacities and new production processes.
  • Provide training and written instructions/standard work related to products to manufacturing personnel for critical processes to develop and maintain process capability.
  • Utilise problem solving and technical tools such as A3, PDCA, FMEA and Control plans to drive data driven improvements in current and new processes.

About You

As a Manufacturing Engineer, we would ask you bring the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to at least HND level or equivalent in Engineering or similar, or relevant experience considered in lieu.
  • Proven hands-on experience supporting MIG and TIG welding operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding, theory, weld quality, distortion control and fixturing principles.
  • Training or experience relevant to fixture design and manufacture.
  • Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office Applications, NX CAD/CAM, Teamcentre, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop-floor environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with operators and cross-functional teams.
