TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager for an external client in Newcastle. The Operations Manager will play a central role in the day-to-day operations of the business, taking responsibility for leading and coordinating operational activities while ensuring high standards of performance, compliance and service delivery. The role will act as a key link between clients, operational teams, internal departments and site personnel, ensuring projects and business activities are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to a consistently high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations, projects, resources and operational teams.
  • Manage projects from planning through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
  • Lead and support supervisors and operational personnel across Technical, Mechanical, Lifting, Fabrication, Transport and Warehousing.
  • Manage the effective allocation and maintenance of company personnel, assets, vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE requirements, quality standards and relevant regulations.
  • Monitor operational performance, KPIs and productivity, implementing improvements where required.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and act as a key link between clients, operational teams and internal departments.
  • Manage client requirements, project scopes, documentation, reporting and service delivery.
  • Identify and manage operational risks, issues and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with HR, Commercial, QHSE, Accounts, Purchasing and other departments to ensure effective business operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, productivity and profitability.
  • Support HR investigations and team performance management where required.
  • Maintain accurate operational and project records, reports and management systems.
  • Provide management support for out-of-hours requirements, including shift handovers and participation in the 24/7 management/on-call rota.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Operations Management, Project Management, Project Coordination or a similar management role.
  • Previous operational or industrial management experience.
  • Experience in project delivery and coordination.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of operational processes.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • CAD experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience supporting business management, project coordination or operational functions.
  • Strong client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Degree or relevant qualification in Operations, Project Management, Business Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.

Out-of-Hours Management Support

As part of the management team, the successful candidate will be required to provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis, including:

  • Start and end-of-shift handovers, where required.
  • Participation in a 24-hour management call-out rota for emergencies, incidents, accidents and near misses.
  • Participation in the 24/7 operational on-call rota as scheduled.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider management team to ensure appropriate operational coverage.
