TEXO Recruitment are delighted to be sourcing on behalf of a leading Civil Engineering, Horizontal Directional Drilling & Multi-Utility Contractor. Our client is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to safely and efficiently operate excavators to support civil engineering and groundworks projects. The role involves excavation, lifting, grading and material handling while ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators and plant machinery safely and competently on construction and civil engineering sites
- Carry out excavation works including trenching, grading, foundations and drainage
- Work from drawings, site plans and instructions from supervisors
- Assist with lifting operations using excavator attachments when required
- Carry out routine plant checks and basic maintenance to ensure machinery remains safe and operational
- Report defects, damage or safety concerns immediately
- Work closely with groundworkers and other site personnel to complete tasks efficiently
- Maintain safe working practices in line with company policies and site procedures
- Ensure work areas are kept tidy and free from hazards
- Follow all health & safety legislation, including safe digging practices and services awareness
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience operating excavators on civil engineering, groundworks or construction sites
- Ability to work safely around live services and confined spaces
- Good understanding of site safety procedures and risk awareness
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Reliable with good timekeeping and work ethic
- Experience of tiltrotators preferable
Qualifications:
- Valid CPCS and CSCS cards
- Lifting Operations endorsement (desirable)
- Current UK Full Driving Licence
