TEXO Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting an NDT & Lifting Equipment Inspector on behalf of our external client located in Darlington .

The Inspector will perform inspection, testing, and certification of lifting equipment and structural components both offshore and onshore whilst ensuring compliance with international regulations & client standards. This role is based in Darlington; however, the candidate will travel offshore & to onshore locations around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections and certification of lifting equipment, including but not limited to cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and lifting beams.
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using various methods such as:
  • Visual Testing (VT)
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT/MPI)
  • Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Inspect and evaluate structural components and welds to detect flaws, cracks, or defects.
  • Mobilising assets to meet customer timelines, ensuring that all certification and supporting information is provided.
  • On return of rental assets, demobilise and inspect as per internal procedures and service instructions. Carry out necessary repairs and components change-outs, re-certifying the equipment on completion. Verify any repairs and returning assets to stock in a ready-to-use state.
  • Ensure all lifting equipment inspections and NDT activities comply with relevant standards such as LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), ASME, ISO, DNV, or client-specific requirements.
  • Generate detailed inspection and NDT reports, including photographs and measurements, and provide clear recommendations for repairs or recertifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date certification records and ensure proper documentation for audits or client review.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with lifting equipment and structural components.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repairs and re-certifications of non-compliant equipment.
  • Work on offshore platforms, vessels, refineries, and onshore facilities as required by the project schedule.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) protocols and guidelines during all operations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors and technicians when required.
  • Stay updated on advancements in NDT techniques, industry standards, and lifting equipment technology.
  • Requirements

    • ASNT/ISO9712/PCN Level 2 in MPI, UT, ET & PT.
    • LEEA Foundation & general are preferable, but training can be provided.
    • In date Offshore certification.
    • 5 Years experience in a similar role.
