Our client is a print and logistics business based in Cramlington who are a new company formed as a pre-pack from the previous large print business. The company has a small finance team and requires an experienced Financial Controller to manage and develop the finance function in the business. The position reports directly to the CEO and principal shareholder.

Key duties include:

  • Cash Flow & Liquidity Management: Maintain and update short-term cash flow models (daily and weekly) to ensure the company maintains liquidity during the critical first 12 months. Directly manage Invoice Discounting and banking operations and oversee the treasury function to prevent any early funding gaps.
  • Systems & Controls Implementation: Establish a new internal control environment to safeguard assets and prevent the recurrence of issues that led to the previous administration. Oversee the migration or setup of the new accounting systems and document all new business processes including sales ledger and purchase ledger.
  • Management Reporting: Act as the primary point of contact for management and new invoice discounting and banking partners to build trust. Provide transparent, board-ready reporting packs that highlight recovery trends and variance against the new business plan.
  • Compliance & Tax: Ensure the company is compliant with all statutory filings (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax) to avoid early regulatory scrutiny. Manage the clean-cut transition of payroll and vendor contracts from the old company to the new one.

  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and hands-on experience with financial automation to eliminate manual waste.
  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (Part Qualified is acceptable).
