Role Overview:
TEXO Recruitment is working on behalf of our client to recruit a Contracts Manager (Construction). This senior role is responsible for overseeing multiple construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and support project teams, manage subcontractors, and drive compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while maintaining excellent client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage civil construction projects across multiple sites.
- Supervise and support Project Managers, Senior Site Managers, Site Managers, and Engineers.
- Oversee budgets, programmes, and cost control, ensuring projects remain commercially viable.
- Champion health, safety, and environmental standards; conduct site inspections and audits.
- Liaise with local authorities, public utilities, and external stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with statutory, contractual, and company processes (IMS and QMS).
- Oversee procurement of subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials.
- Chair and document subcontractor meetings, ensuring follow-up on key actions.
- Investigate and resolve delays, incidents, and construction challenges.
- Manage project close-out, including O&M manuals, defects resolution, and handover.
- Lead defect management and maintenance, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and cost-effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement by analysing project outcomes and feeding lessons learned into future works.
Required Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, or similar senior role within civils or construction.
- Minimum 2 years’ management experience including planning and directing projects.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- SMSTS certification.
- CSCS Manager’s Card.
- Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Management qualification (NVQ/SVQ Level 5 or above – achieved, in progress, or willing to complete).
- First Aid at Work (3-day course or equivalent).
- Risk Assessment & Method Statement certification.
- Experience with Power Project or similar planning software.
