TEXO is currently seeking two experienced and reliable Utilities Surveyors to join our Witham-based team and support ongoing and upcoming projects throughout the UK. The successful candidates will have practical experience undertaking utility detection and mapping surveys and will be confident operating electromagnetic locating equipment, ground-penetrating radar and associated surveying equipment. Regular UK-wide travel and overnight stays will be required. Candidates must therefore be flexible and comfortable working away from home when projects require it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking utility detection and mapping surveys
  • Delivering surveys in accordance with PAS 128
  • Operating electromagnetic locating equipment and ground-penetrating radar
  • Identifying and recording underground utility routes and depths
  • Reviewing statutory utility records and existing site information
  • Using GPS/GNSS and total station equipment to record survey information
  • Assisting with land and topographic surveys where required
  • Processing, checking and presenting accurate survey data
  • Supporting the production of utility survey drawings and reports
  • Completing site documentation, risk assessments and survey records
  • Identifying and reporting site hazards, constraints and discrepancies
  • Liaising professionally with clients, contractors and site personnel
  • Ensuring survey equipment is maintained and ready for use
  • Delivering all work safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience undertaking utility detection and mapping surveys
  • Experience operating electromagnetic locating equipment and GPR
  • Good understanding of underground utility networks
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to interpret utility records and site drawings
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a survey team
  • Good communication and client-facing skills
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Valid CSCS card

Desirable Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of PAS 128
  • Experience using GPS/GNSS and total station equipment
  • Experience using GPR post processing software
  • Experience processing and presenting utility survey data
  • Relevant surveying, engineering or utilities qualification
  • Additional utility surveying or equipment manufacturer training
