Role Overview: TEXO Recruitment are currently supporting an Aberdeen-based client in the search for an experienced Heat Exchanger Technician to join their operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, cleaning, repair, and reassembly of heat exchangers, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company and industry standards. The role will involve both workshop-based activities and occasional on-site support work for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Duties
- Carry out incoming inspections of heat exchanger equipment
- Interpret technical drawings and OEM specifications
- Perform thermographic surveying of client equipment
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble heat exchangers
- Pressure wash and chemically clean exchanger plates
- Dry plates using industrial ovens
- Carry out gasket replacement, plate inspection, and pressure testing
- Complete pressure test reporting accurately
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in workshop and onsite environments
- Maintain clean and organised working areas
- Assist with delivery receipts and workshop logistics
- Support wider workshop teams with operational duties when required
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work is completed to company quality standards
- Report any defects or issues that may impact turnaround times
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Follow guidance from senior and lead technicians
- Support quality assurance procedures and compliance standards
- Training & Competence
- Attend required training courses to maintain competency
- Complete company competency records and ongoing development requirements
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Adhere to company QHSE policies and procedures
- Support quality management systems and workshop standards
- Contribute to observation card and safety reporting systems
- Promote safe working practices at all times
Required Skills & Experience:
- Essential
- Mechanical background with 2–3 years’ relevant experience
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to quality and safe working practices
- Desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with tools and machinery related to heat exchanger servicing
- NDT Training (PT Pre & In-Service Inspection – PCN Level 2 preferred)
- Thermographic training
Additional Information
- Workshop and occasional site-based work
- Overtime and weekend work may be required
- Travel to client sites may be required depending on operational needs
