Join Liberty as a Junior or Midweight Designer to provide bespoke design services worldwide. The role includes understanding client needs, building brand profiles, and creating or recolouring prints that satisfy client requirements while reflecting Liberty's heritage and highâquality standards. The role covers the City Collection, designing across two seasonal Menswear collections with scope to expand into new bases such as Tana Cotton and Japanese Denim.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key figure in the bespoke process, managing communication between customers, design, archive, and production teams.
- Research with Archivist to find design solutions in the Liberty archive, redraw or clean archive designs or fragments as required.
- Build and maintain customer profiles for regular clients, understanding their brand DNA and exclusivity requirements.
- Translate briefs into curated concepts, narratives, and mood boards aligned to fashionâforward and brandârelevant research.
- Design new bespoke prints, colourways, and engineering/placement layouts that meet briefs while exercising design sensibility and selfâediting.
- Recolour and adapt designs to ensure they meet client needs and Liberty standards.
- Develop and deliver two City Collection seasons annually, creating highâquality menswear prints across a range of bases.
- Draw and paint designs to the highest standard within criticalâpath timelines.
- Produce artwork, colourways, repeats, and technical files using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AVA.
- Provide clear and coherent design information on cover sheets for factories, liaising with production in Italy and printers during strikeâoff and sampling.
- Create presentations, Fentbooks, and maintain accurate records of bespoke and special designs.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with international agents, partners, and customers, attending production meetings and contributing to fabric collaborations.
About You
- Proven experience as a Textile Print Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing creativity.
- Formal education in Textile Design (or equivalent experience).
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and AVA.
- Excellent drawing, painting, and handârendering skills.
- Strong ability to interpret briefs, build narratives and deliver innovative print solutions.
- Knowledge of design exclusivity, copyright systems, and production processes.
- Confident presenter with strong communication skills, able to inspire senior leadership and external partners.
- Flexible to travel internationally each season, attending trade shows and partner meetings.
- Drive for excellence, results orientation, and ability to take ownership of endâtoâend delivery.
- Collaborative approach with leadership and coaching skills to guide others in the team.
