We are seeking an experienced Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon to join our established team for a 6 month fixed term period. Applicants should have completed specialist training in Orthopaedics at FRCS level and have completed at least 1 post-CCT fellowship in hand and wrist surgery. The post supports service recovery and waiting list reduction, delivering against the 52 week RTT targets, while maintaining safe and timely care for hand and wrist trauma and elective surgery. You will work alongside a team of three substantive hand and wrist surgeons. The role offers a balance of elective and trauma work with scope to focus activity on high volume procedures to maximise impact on waiting lists.
Responsibilities
- Support service recovery and waiting list reduction; deliver against 52 week RTT targets.
- Provide safe and timely care for hand and wrist trauma and elective surgery.
- Collaborate with a team of three substantive hand and wrist surgeons.
- Engage in a balance of elective and trauma work, with opportunities to focus on high volume procedures.
Qualifications
Essential: MBChB or equivalent medical qualification; Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.
Desirable: Specialist interest or additional qualifications in other areas of specialty.
Experience
- Completion of at least 1 post-CCT fellowship; ability to demonstrate trauma expertise in hand and wrist and general trauma.
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Experience in CPD participation.
- Desirable: Experience in a similar post with a logbook of hand and wrist procedures; Experience in service improvement in hand and wrist surgery; Knowledge of enhanced recovery pathways and day case arthroplasty.
