The CAMHS directorate inNorth Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV is comprised of the two YorkCommunity CAMHS teams based at Lime Trees, the Selby team based at Selby Cabin,the Harrogate Team based at Dragon Parade, the Scarborough Team based at Lake Houseand the Northallerton Team based at North Moor House with a peripheral clinicin Colburn.

This post will provideinput into Northallerton part of the North Yorkshire and York service.Specifically, this service is commissioned by the Humber and North YorkshireHealth and Care Partnership .

It has a Single Point ofAccess service staffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide atelephone consultation service to families and referrers. The SPA responds toall referrals and help young people and their families with the process ofnavigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs. Theservice works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people andtheir families in achieving good mental health and well-being. Staff job plansare designed to deliver services described in the TEWV Clinical Pathways, inorder to provide high quality evidence-based care.

This post arises from aconsultant retiring and a SAS doctor moving posts.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant will haveresponsibility- together with the other Consultant in the team- for theprovision of psychiatric services to children and young people living in the Northallertonarea. A provisional job plan is set out in section 18

This provision willinclude:

Clinics at North Moor House and Colburn. The post holder will beallocated a proportion of secondary schools and their feeder primary schools.The aim of this is to enable the development of close working relationshipswith education staff and Primary care staff in a particular area. .

Liaison with Paediatricians based at the Friarage and James CookUniversity Hospitals and other nearbyhospitals as and when appropriate.

Advice, consultation and supervision to the team.

Involvement in morecomplex cases using a co-working model, often in partnership with otheragencies.

Qualifications

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Clinical Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
