Clinical Psychologist

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated B7 Clinical Psychologist to join us at York's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services also based in the city of York. The post holder will provide assessment and treatment to our young people and their families of York and work alongside an established and committed team providing a psychology lens to our teams practice and development. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a wide variety of professionals including a supportive and experienced Psychology team.

Main duties of the job:

• The post holder will provide evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions as part of the mental health pathways, and offer input to individuals, their families and carers in a clinic setting.
• The candidate will also provide supervision and support to the team in developing our practice.
• You will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, offer clinical supervision and consultation, contribute to service evaluation, as well as manage the demands of service development and change.

Job responsibilities:

• We welcome applications from staff who are currently coming to the end of their training in Clinical or counselling psychology that on successful completion will achieve the required qualification and registration with HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist.
• Trainee counselling psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their 3rd year of the doctoral training.
• This information may be requested prior to interview: All clinical competencies; 80% of the 450 supervised clinical practice hours (360 hours).
• Trainee clinical psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their third year of training.

Person Specification:

• Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology as accredited by the BPS.
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Trained in clinical supervision and care co-ordination.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Post-graduate qualification showing evidence of supervised practice in an evidence-based psychological therapeutic model.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Working with mental health/learning disability clients.
• Multi-disciplinary team working.
• Doctoral level knowledge of evidence-based practice relevant to the role.
• Risk assessment and risk management.
• Clinical governance.
• Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
