This is a creation of a new post of Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow across North & South Care Groups. The aim is for this role to bring an overview and consistency in the development and delivery of undergraduate teaching as medical school numbers expand and bring opportunities for innovation and creativity trust wide. The role further develops the clinical teaching fellow, with responsibility for becoming an expert and delivering quality medical education experience across both undergraduate and postgraduate training & development of different educational events. There is greater emphasis on leadership and management and linking in with partner universities. The role consists of 4 days of Medical Education activity & 1 day of clinical activity.
Main duties of the job
- To lead in the development, planning, delivery and monitoring of teaching for relevant medical school undergraduate students, working with the Clinical Teaching Fellows, Undergraduate Tutors, DUCS, Nurse Lead and Medical Education Faculty.
- Act as a direct source of educational advice and expertise, offering guidance to clinical and medical staff on all aspects of the medical student programme.
- Collaborate with Education by Experience Educator, other service users and carers to develop workshops and teaching.
- Lead and contribute to the development of Simulation Projects & facilitation of Simulation teaching activities by the Medical Education Faculty and in collaboration with the Simulation Tutor.
- Support input into areas of clinical need to support the inclusion of students in that team.
- Support the faculty with strategic direction in the delivery of undergraduate medical student and postgraduate foundation programme teaching.
- To provide pastoral support to the differing medical student groups as required.

Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Passed paper A MRCPsych
- Has achieved or working towards a PG Cert in Medical Education or similar teaching qualification
Experience
- At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Can evidence knowledge / experience of UK medical schools & MH curriculum
- Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment
- Postgraduate experience in the relevant specialty.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Able to undertake duties under MHA and MCA.
