An exciting, fixed term/secondment opportunity for 12 months has arisen for a Band 5 Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join the Think Together Team with the CAMHS Single Point of Access Team. The team is locality based across North Yorkshire, York and Selby. We are keen to hear from those already qualified and registered, highly experienced individuals who are motivated and focused on delivering high quality patient care. The closing date is 17 February 2026.

Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will work within the Think Together Team within the CAMHS Single Point of Access Team.
  • They will need to offer triage assessments, alongside delivering interventions at a high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • The post will also include visiting our partner agencies to deliver support and training, and offer consultation.
  • The Think Together team works across the locality of North Yorkshire, York and Selby and there is an expectation of travel across the locality in order to deliver the training, support and consultation.
  • There may also be a requirement to work adjusted hours between 8am and finish at 8pm in relation to group work and facilitation.
  • Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaising closely with other agencies you will assess, plan and implement care for children with mental health needs.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:
  • Successfully completed British Psychological Society (BPS) Accredited or Higher Education England (HEE) Approved academic course of study in line with the CYP IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and will be qualified as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP).
  • Professional registration as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) with an appropriate regulatory body (e.g. British Psychological Society (BPS) or British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)).
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
  • Evidence of working with young people who have experienced emotional distress impacting on their mental health.
  • Able to deliver evidence-based LICBT interventions in line with protocols.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how emotional distress may present in young people and impact upon their mental health.
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
  • Experience of delivering psycho-educational groups and parent led CBT.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the issues relating to children and young people and the impact it can have on mental health.
Experience:
  • Able to manage own caseload.
  • Experience of managing distressed young people and families.
  • Competent in risk assessment.
  • Experience of safeguarding procedures.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
