An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit two dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative individuals to join our team and work within the NHS York and Selby Talking Therapies Service. The service is an integrated Step 2, Step 3 and counselling service covering York, Selby, Pocklington, Easingwold and Tadcaster geographical areas. We also have a dedicated Employment Advisory Team to support service users whilst within treatment.
Main duties of the job:
- Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners play a critical role in helping shape the future direction of the service by delivering high quality evidence based interventions.
- The role is a deliberately varied one which has a balance between undertaking initial assessments and holding a clinical caseload.
- All PWPs are involved in delivering Guided Self Help, Psychoeducation Courses and Computerised programmes.
- You will receive regular caseload supervision and clinical supervision groups.
- We pride ourselves on being an innovative Talking Therapies service, and as part of this have developed opportunities for PWPs to take on the role of champions for a variety of populations such as perinatal, older adults, veterans and long-term conditions.
- These roles enable PWPs to develop their skills and experience in their areas of interest, and assist in designing pathways of care for these populations.

- In return, you will be expected to be flexible and provide out of hours clinics as required by service need and demonstrate a willingness to travel.
About us:
You must hold the post graduate certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Intervention training in order to apply. Anyone without this qualification will not be considered for interview. PWP trainees who will have qualified upon commencement of this post are also encouraged to apply. NHS York and Selby Talking Therapies offer a hybrid working model with a mix of homeworking and working from different venues across the York and Selby locality. You will also be expected to be flexible and provide out of hours clinics and travel to different locations as required by service need.
Job responsibilities:

Person Specification:
- PWP qualification from a British Psychological Society accredited PWP programme/apprenticeship.
- If qualifying by the apprenticeship route have also passed the apprenticeship end point assessment.
- Accredited with the BABCP or BPS as a PWP (or working towards accreditation if within six months of qualifying).
- Key skills in literacy, numeracy and IT.
- Core profession in mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology.
Experience:
- Experience of working with people with common mental health problems in an IAPT setting.
- Ability to demonstrate a range of experiences in offering and delivering a full range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions.
- Experience of screening, assessing and working with a range of mental health issues at step 2.
- Experience of working with and managing risk.
- Experience in drug/alcohol management.
- Experience of 'Partnership working'.
- Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
Skills:
- Ability to implement NICE guidance for Step 2 interventions for mental health problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills.
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
