The Access to Mental Wellbeing Team are looking to appoint a Band 8a Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team. Applicants will be required to have post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and be registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Significant experience and competencies in delivering and supervising evidence based psychological intervention for SMHP is also essential.
Main duties of the job include:
- Providing direct clinical work.
- Promoting psychological thinking with all members of the team by helping staff to develop formulations for clients.
- Offering supervision and joint work with the team.
- Supporting staff wellbeing and providing training in psychological theory and its implementation.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who experience severe mental health problems and competencies in an evidence based psychological therapy for SMHP. They will contribute to the collective clinical leadership of the service, be responsible for the provision of specialist psychological assessment and formulation, and the delivery of evidence based psychological therapy and clinical supervision. The post holder will contribute to service development and improvement within the locality and the professional leadership of psychological professions.

Person Specification:
- Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees.
- Trained in care co-ordination.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Registration with BPS.
Experience:
- Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings.
- Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
- Teaching, training and clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
- Research and development.
- Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Doctoral level knowledge of evidence-based practice relevant to the role.
- Doctoral level knowledge of risk assessment and risk management.
- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical governance.
- Doctoral level knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Doctoral level knowledge of audit and research methodology.
