CAMHS Practitioner

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in County Durham and Darlington are seeking to recruit a CAMHS Clinician (fixed term/secondment - 6 months) to work part time (30 hours) in our Darlington Getting More Help Team. This post requires the candidate to have a professional registration in Child, mental health or Learning disability nursing. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated, forward-thinking clinician to work as part of our team - working with young people with mental health problems.

Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the time of applying. Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

Main duties of the job:

• The Darlington CAMHS team provides mental health assessments, treatment, and interventions for children and young people experiencing moderate to severe, complex emotional, behavioural, and psychological difficulties.
• We are a dynamic, compassionate team made up of clinicians from diverse professional backgrounds, including Nursing, Psychology, and Social Work.
• This multi-disciplinary approach enables us to deliver high-quality, holistic mental health care to the children and families who access our services.
• As a CAMHS clinician, you will work collaboratively within the MDT to provide assessments and evidence-based interventions to young people and their families.

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS trust places an emphasis on Staff wellbeing and provides access to a number of formal staff support services, which are available to staff on appointment.

Person Specification:

• Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

• Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
• Providing clinical supervision.
• Working in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Leadership or management experience.
• Significant experience working with children and young people with mental ill health in a community setting.
• Mentoring students on practice placement experience.

• Provide leadership and monitor, co-ordinate and prioritise the activities of a team.
• Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children and young people, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional / care co-ordinator responsibilities.
• Provide effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 a year pro rata, per annum.
