Are you passionate about mental health care and ready for a new challenge? Roseberry ward is looking to recruit an RMN who is passionate about working with the older person. Hamsterley Ward is a 15-bed, female specialized ward. Whether you're an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day. Student Nurses who are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. However, sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements, therefore we recommend that you assess your eligibility before applying for this position.

Main duties of the job:

  • As a Staff Nurse on Hamsterley Ward, you will work alongside a team of nurses, healthcare assistants, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team, as part of a large multi-disciplinary team approach striving towards excellent patient care.
  • You will be expected to carry out all aspects of patient care, including medication, one-to-one time with patients, observations including physical health observations, coordination of the shift and, depending on experience, nurse in charge.

We offer a full induction process and training to ensure you have the required confidence, knowledge and skills for this role. Each inpatient ward is fully equipped with activity and therapeutic spaces to enable patients to recover in a timely way so that they can be safely discharged back to their usual place of residence.

Job responsibilities:

  • We will support you by offering regular supervision, training opportunities and encouraging your development and role within this developing team on the delivery of patient-centred care, support for carers and evidence-based practice.
  • The successful applicant will be expected to work 12-hour shifts covering 24/7 days and nights and public holidays.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications:
    • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD
    • To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards this in an agreed timescale
    • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
    • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience:
    • Working with people with mental ill health.
    • Working in a person-centred therapeutic organisation.
    • Working in an inpatient environment.
    • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
    • Working in a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Working in partnership with other agencies.
  • Knowledge:
    • Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
    • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
    • Understanding of safeguarding and its application in practice.
    • Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice.
    • Clinical governance and its application in practice.
    • Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections.
