At Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV), we are building a modern, people-focused finance service that underpins high-quality care in mental health, learning disability and autism services. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Central Financial Management Team, part of Corporate Finance, as an Assistant Management Accountant. You will play a key role in producing accurate, timely financial information and meaningful analysis that drives decision-making and supports operational colleagues.
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
Main duties of the job
- Working closely with the Financial Accountant - Reporting within the Central Financial Management Team to support accurate reporting, forecasting, and analysis across the Trust.
- Supporting the production of monthly income management accounts, including reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and variance analysis.
- Providing financial insight to help budget and finance managers understand performance and make informed decisions.
- Preparing reports for monthly finance reports for handover meetings with finance colleagues.
- Maintaining accurate information within Oracle NEP (ledger system).
- Assisting with NHSE information requests, FOIs, and submissions.
- Supporting business cases, tenders, and ad hoc financial modelling through provision of accurate and timely costing information.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.

About you
- We are looking for someone who is part-qualified (AAT/ NVQ4/ CCAB or equivalent) and working towards full professional qualification.
- Has strong Excel and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communicates confidently, translating financial information clearly for non-finance colleagues.
- Thrives in a collaborative, improvement-focused environment.
- Ideally has experience using Oracle NEP - though training will be provided.

Person Specification
- Qualifications: Part qualified accountant (CCAB, AAT / NVQ4 or equivalent) with willingness to achieve full qualification within agreed timescale.
- AAT/NVQ4 member or equivalent with proven experience in financial environment or equivalent relevant financial experience.
Experience:
- Experience within Finance or Management Accounts.
- Excellent skills and understanding of Microsoft applications in delivering complex outcomes.
- Numeracy, analytical and investigative skills.
- Problem solving.
- Previous NHS Experience.
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of computerised financial and management accounting systems and processes.
- Knowledge of latest finance development and national policy.
Skills:
- Excellent Communication Skills - verbal and written.
- Numeracy, analytical & investigative problem solving.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet applications. Able to produce, format & manipulate comprehensive financial information.
