We’re looking for a capable and motivated Business Rates Officer to join our Revenues & Benefits team. This role is ideal for someone with some experience in business rates, local taxation, or a similar revenues environment, who is ready to build on their knowledge and take on a varied and rewarding caseload.
What the role involves:
- Managing Business Rates accounts, ensuring accurate billing and collection.
- Processing changes of occupation, reliefs, exemptions, and valuation updates.
- Investigating discrepancies and maintaining accurate customer and property records.
- Providing clear, professional advice to businesses, landlords, agents, and internal teams.
- Applying relevant legislation, guidance, and local policies to ensure compliance.
- Contributing to the wider Revenues & Benefits service to support efficient, high‑quality delivery.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in Business Rates, Council Tax, or another local taxation or revenues role.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numerical and financial information.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
- Ability to interpret legislation and follow procedures accurately.
