Teacher of PSHE and Cover in Tewkesbury

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed PSHE and Cover Teacher to join our team at Tewkesbury Academy. At M1 level, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching practice while delivering a high‑quality, engaging PSHE curriculum and supporting the wider academy through planned lesson cover across a range of subjects.

Through your PSHE teaching, you will help students develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to navigate modern life with confidence. You will deliver an ambitious and inclusive curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering areas such as relationships, health and wellbeing, personal development, citizenship and preparation for life beyond school. Alongside your PSHE responsibilities, you will provide classroom cover, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre‑prepared lessons, maintain a positive learning environment, and uphold the academy’s high expectations for behaviour and engagement across all subjects and year groups.

• Deliver PSHE lessons that support students’ personal development, wellbeing and key life skills.
• Provide classroom cover in a range of subjects, delivering pre‑set work while maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning.
• Build positive relationships with students, creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
• Support the wider life of the academy, contributing to enrichment, pastoral support and personal, social and emotional wellbeing initiatives.
• Reflect on practice and actively develop your teaching skills within an early career framework (M1).

• A qualified teacher or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Strong interest in delivering high‑quality PSHE education.
• Confident in delivering engaging PSHE lessons that support personal development and wellbeing.
• Ability to manage classroom cover effectively across multiple subjects.
• Skilled in building positive relationships and creating an inclusive environment.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of all learners, including pupil premium, looked‑after children, SEND, EAL and high‑attaining students.
• Strong communication, organisational and adaptability skills for a cover role.
• Reflective and keen to develop own classroom practice at an early career stage (M1).
• Demonstrating competency across the Teachers’ Standards relevant to an early‑career teacher.
