Your opportunity to lead an ambitious Mathematics department and inspire exceptional outcomes: We are seeking an outstanding and inspirational leader to take on the role of Head of Maths at Tewkesbury Academy, driving excellence in teaching, curriculum and student outcomes across the department. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to lead a dedicated team, shape an engaging and ambitious Mathematics curriculum, and ensure all students achieve and exceed their potential.

As Head of Maths, you will play a pivotal role in championing the success and life chances of every student, using data-informed strategies, high-quality teaching and targeted intervention to secure strong progress for all groups of learners. About you:

  • You will be a qualified teacher (QTS) with a strong degree in Mathematics or a related subject, with successful experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • You will be an exceptional classroom practitioner, able to consistently deliver high-quality, engaging lessons which secure strong progress and outcomes over time.
  • You will be an aspiring or experienced middle leader, with the ability to lead, inspire and develop a team, motivating colleagues to deliver excellent teaching and learning.
  • You will be confident in using assessment and progress data to identify priorities, drive improvement and implement effective interventions, particularly for disadvantaged students, SEND learners and high attainers.
  • You will be skilled in curriculum leadership, with a strong understanding of effective Mathematics pedagogy and current developments in the subject.
  • You will be an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community, contributing to collaboration across the school and trust.
  • You will be committed to fostering high expectations of behaviour, achievement and attitudes to learning, ensuring a purposeful and inclusive environment.
  • You will be passionate about professional development, both in developing your own practice and in coaching and supporting others to improve.
  • You will be dedicated to providing enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom, helping students develop confidence, curiosity and a love of Mathematics.
