Tewkesbury Academy is seeking an experienced, committed and resilient Behaviour Support Manager to join the academy team. This role is central to promoting and safeguarding students’ welfare, securing high expectations for conduct, engagement and achievement, and ensuring a consistent, restorative and trauma‑informed approach to behaviour across the academy.

As Behaviour Support Manager, you will lead the Reflection and Ready to Return Rooms, creating calm, structured spaces that support students to regulate, reflect and reintegrate. You will also oversee the academy’s wider behaviour provision, including the Internal Suspension Room, ensuring effective support that reduces repeat referrals and boosts long‑term engagement. Working with pastoral staff, teachers, safeguarding teams and external agencies, you will track behaviour, analyse data and deliver targeted interventions that help students stay in class, make progress and meet expectations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the Reflection Room, Ready to Return Room and Internal Suspension Room, ensuring calm, structured and supportive routines that enable positive reintegration.
  • Act as a key point of contact for students accessing behaviour support, forming strong and supportive relationships both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Analyse behaviour patterns, monitor referrals and create intervention plans that reduce repeat incidents and support improved conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop strategies that support inclusion, prevent escalation and improve classroom behaviour.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding behaviour concerns, progress and reintegration expectations.
  • Work closely with the Inclusion Team and SEN colleagues to support vulnerable students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Respond to behaviour incidents, de‑escalate situations safely and make informed decisions in line with academy policy.
  • Support the consistent implementation of behaviour and safeguarding procedures, ensuring all concerns are accurately recorded.
  • Line‑manage staff working within behaviour spaces and model high professional standards.

Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) demonstrating strong literacy and numeracy skills and a relevant Level 3 qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 in Education, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or NVQ Level 3 in Learning and Development or behaviour/SEN support.
  • Successful experience of working with young people, including those with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
  • Proven experience of supporting behaviour, de‑escalation, restorative practice and preventing exclusion.
  • Experience liaising with external agencies and contributing to multi‑agency meetings to support student outcomes.
  • Knowledge of behaviour strategies, inclusion, personalised learning approaches and current issues in student support.
