This role sits within the wider Cabot Learning Federation Estates and Facilities Team.

What we are looking for:

  • To be successful in the post, we want a dependable Premises Assistant to undertake a range of duties from day-to-day repairs to waste collection.
  • You will take instruction from the Premises Manager, work well as a member of an established team and have a flexible approach to working.
  • Ideally, you will have experience of working in a similar type role, however transferrable skills from a comparable role or background will be considered.

The ideal candidate will be able to support their team, and maintain the security of the premises and its contents (including the operation of fire and burglar alarms and key‑holder responsibilities), lighting, heating and cleaning of premises (including the maintenance and operation of plant), providing porterage, defined handyperson duties, and other duties arising from the use of premise sharing their enthusiasm and commitment with both the department and to the students. An ability to work collaboratively is essential as we are a strong team.

About you:

  • You will demonstrate a basic understanding of health & safety.
  • Experience of carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
  • A recognised qualification or training related to building maintenance and grounds work, or relevant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Evidence of formal training in areas such as chain saw operation and Manual Handling or willingness to undertake training.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement through professional development, self‑evaluation, and awareness.
  • Commitment to and able to work in a way that promotes the safety and well‑being of children and young people.
