b Overview /b p As Principal Engineer at Tetra Tech, you will provide technical leadership across civil engineering, flood risk management and infrastructure projects, shaping strategy and assuring quality. You will act as a senior technical authority, guiding multi-disciplinary teams, governance, and client relations to deliver robust, resilient solutions. Your role includes early-stage optioneering, technical assurance and mentoring engineers. You will work with cross-functional teams to define standards and drive delivery for major projects, influencing outcomes and maintaining credibility. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Provide technical leadership across a portfolio of civil engineering, flood risk management and infrastructure projects /li li Act as a senior technical authority to resolve complex issues and guide technical direction /li li Support governance, quality assurance and risk management across projects /li li Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, statutory bodies and delivery partners /li li Input into strategy, optioneering, governance and technical assurance /li li Mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement and technical excellence /li li Manage interdependencies and ensure decisions support successful delivery /li li Build and maintain credible client relationships and contribute to business development /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, flood risk management or related discipline /li li Chartered status expected; typically membership of MICE, MCIWEM or equivalent /li li Significant experience leading technical work in civil engineering or flood risk management /li li Proven track record delivering high-quality outcomes on major infrastructure or environmental projects /li li Experience in design assurance, programme leadership, governance or technical governance is advantageous /li li Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project or client locations (desirable) /li /ul ul li Stakeholder leadership and credible communication /li li Mentoring and team development /li li Evidence-based advisory and problem solving /li li Civil engineering expertise /li li Flood risk management expertise /li li Design assurance and technical governance /li /ul
