Tetra Tech's Cost Consultancy is responsible for some of the most strategically important projects in the UK. We provide our clients with high quality cost advice on the capital and whole life cost of their buildings with an increasing focus on carbon reduction. Due to our continued success in securing major projects in the north-east, we have identified a need for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
Based in our Newcastle team, you will become an important part of a high-performance multi-disciplinary team utilising the latest technology to deliver cost advice to design colleagues and our clients. There are opportunities to work within the Residential, Defence and Government Property sectors.
The Role
- You will work closely with other TT regional offices, forging strong working relationships internally and externally with our clients, becoming part of their integrated project teams.
- You’ll be involved in a large portfolio of exciting development opportunities ranging from private to public sector, small scale to in excess of £100m and from feasibility and assessment stage through to completion.
- You will have the opportunity to work autonomously and as part of a wider thriving team, enhancing your existing skill set and ensuring your role and responsibilities remain diverse.
- Development of cost plans for complex projects utilising Cost X estimating software.
- Advising design colleagues on the cost implications of alternative design options.
- Monthly reporting on cost movement to the Client.
- Engagement in Value Engineering and risk workshops and providing strategic cost advice.
- Advising on and supporting procurement of contractors.
- Delivering the full range of construction stage cost management services.
- Building relationships with design colleagues, Client stakeholders, and the Contractor.
Projects:
- Supporting Project Cost Management team upon New build office scheme in Darlington.
- Employers agent upon PRS scheme in the North East.
- Supporting Fund monitoring roles for Homes England.
About you
- Full membership of a recognised professional body or working towards full membership (e.g. RICS).
- Sound knowledge and proven experience in guiding and developing quantity surveying, employer's agent best practice and innovation.
- Able to deliver a contemporary quantity surveying and employer's agent service focused on client satisfaction.
- Able to provide an efficient, collaborative, well governed service using modern management techniques to deliver our projects successfully.
- Experience working on projects with a demonstrable track record of a high standard of technical delivery.
- Experience managing both internal and external project teams.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build strong working relationships at all levels.
- A strategic thinker, able to convey ideas both verbally and in report form to clients, external stakeholders, and the design team.
- Able to adapt strategies in line with changing priorities.
- Have SC clearance or able to obtain clearance.
