Overview
In this role you lead the management and delivery of residential, development-related and strategic infrastructure projects within the Highways and Infrastructure team in Leicester. You steer scope, programme, budget, resources, risk, quality and financial performance while providing technical direction and design review. You’ll be the senior point of contact for clients and authorities, helping to resolve challenges and keep momentum. This position offers impact on major highways projects, team development, and opportunities to shape sustainable infrastructure, with hybrid working in the Leicester area.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from inception to completion (scope, programme, budget, resources, risk, quality, change control, financial performance)
- Lead design and delivery of residential and development-related infrastructure (Section 278, 38, external works, private drainage, Section 104, 185)
- Provide technical review and design assurance, challenge assumptions, manage risk, ensure buildable, compliant solutions
- Act as project lead or principal client contact with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams
- Coordinate engineers and external contributors, mentor colleagues, promote accountability and development
- Support governance, QA and health and safety in design
- Identify opportunities for repeat business and project growth
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline with ICE and/or CIHT membership or eligibility
- Extensive experience delivering highways and development infrastructure projects
- Strong commercial awareness: fee preparation, resource forecasting, budget management, change control, financial reporting
- Knowledge of Section 278/38, external works, private drainage, Section 104 and related guidance (DMRB, Building Regulations)
- Experience with local authorities and statutory/approval processes
- Autocad, Civil 3D, Site 3D or PDS, MicroDrainage knowledge to oversee outputs
- Strong communication, proactive organisation, autonomous work style
- Full UK driving licence or ability to travel
