The predicted salary is between 28800 - 42000 £ per year.

Due to significant project and framework wins, we currently have 3 vacancies for ambitious Geo-environmental Consultants and Engineering Geologist Consultants at either Consultant or Senior Consultant level to join our teams in Edinburgh. These are excellent opportunities for ambitious individuals to join our established Geo-environment & Mining Business Unit of 100 staff across the UK & Ireland. The Edinburgh office provides brownfield redevelopment, ground investigation, geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy services to a broad range of high profile private and public sector clients primarily across the property, water and defence sectors.

The role will include:

  • The production of desk-based assessments of site geology, hydrogeology, history and assessment of risk to generate ground models and conceptual site models.
  • Geotechnical and contamination ground investigation design, data interpretation and interpretative reporting.
  • Ground investigation management and site supervision.
  • Production of remediation and earthworks strategies and specifications.
  • Mining risk assessments.
  • Construction phase input including supervision and reviewing earthworks data.
  • Input into tendering for projects.
  • Assisting with the project and financial management including multidisciplinary projects.

This will include liaison with other disciplines within TetraTech and client liaison and meeting attendance (virtual and face to face). Our experienced team members will offer mentoring and the opportunity to progress to professional chartership following our Geological Society accredited Training Scheme and we will pay for your professional membership. In a Senior grade position, you will also be involved in mentoring staff. We will tailor your training and development accordingly to achieve your own personal goals, providing the specific support you need to reach your potential.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

You will have all, or most of, the following:

  • A first degree or Masters degree in geology or engineering geology.
  • Practical experience of managing and supervising ground investigations and laboratory scheduling.
  • Experience of geotechnical and geo-environmental assessment and reporting.
  • Experience of mining assessments and investigations.
  • Some knowledge of geotechnical design including foundation types and ground improvement options.
  • Some experience in writing earthworks specifications and in the supervision of earthworks.
  • Some experience of writing remediation strategies.
  • A willingness to travel on occasion for ground investigation works or remediation supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fully IT literate such that you can write clear, concise and technically robust reports.
  • A good understanding of health, safety and environmental management for ground investigation and of CDM regulations as applicable to design.
  • A full, preferably clean, driving license.
  • Strong social, interpersonal and communication skills and a willingness to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
