The Role

As Tetra Tech builds on its proven track record as a leading global environmental consultancy, we are seeking ecologists of all levels to strengthen our existing expertise in the Midlands. With ambitions to expand our UK presence to match the success of our global operations, we are looking for dynamic ecologists to join our established network of over 50 ecologists.

As a multidisciplinary consultancy, we collaborate closely with teams in planning, placemaking, engineering, transportation, and asset management. Your role will involve identifying opportunities, tendering, and project delivery. You will proactively develop relationships across the business, liaising with the wider ecology team and other technical teams, supporting them throughout all project stages.

We pride ourselves on providing professional ecology advice across sectors including residential, defence, energy, government services, and transport. With over 50 permanent ecologists, we leverage our technical expertise to develop optimal solutions.

Projects will primarily be focused in the East Midlands, including Lincolnshire and East Anglia. We operate flexible, hybrid working arrangements, allowing ecologists to choose where, how, and when they work, provided high-quality service is maintained. The role involves site work and collaboration with colleagues and clients, which may require some time in an office or alternative workspace.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including reduced or compressed hours and flexible start or finish times. We can consider deferred start dates for the right candidate.

About the Team

  • Over 50 permanent ecologists across 13 offices, working as a cohesive team.
  • Minimized time away from home.
  • IT systems support seamless remote and flexible working; proximity to an office is not essential. We focus on talents and skills.
  • Cars or car allowances are provided to all team members, including for personal use.

  • Clear career frameworks for progression.
  • Internal and external training, mentoring, and development opportunities.
  • Incentivization scheme for bat handling licences.
  • Financial bonuses for achieving Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist status via CIEEM.
  • Collaborations with planners, archaeologists, landscape architects, masterplanners, and engineers.
  • A culture of openness with readily available advice and support.
