Tetra Tech has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Senior Occupational Health Practice Nurse to join our Occupational Health team on the Ford contract based in Essex. You will support the delivery of a class-leading occupational health service, including emergency response and treatment, health surveillance, health screening, health promotion, fitness for work and wellbeing support. As a senior clinical team member, you will help guide day-to-day site activity, support clinical standards and act as a trusted point of contact for employees, client stakeholders and the wider occupational health team.

Working within a multidisciplinary team of Occupational Health Nurses, Doctors, Technicians and Advisors, you will contribute to a culture built on trust, respect and collaboration. The team focuses on quality, manageable workloads and long-term colleague wellbeing.

Your Impact in this Position

From the outset, you will provide safe, effective clinical support in a busy manufacturing environment, helping to prevent adverse health effects from workplace activities and supporting timely intervention when employees need care. In the medium term, you will strengthen site awareness, support clinic efficiency, maintain accurate management information and help ensure evidence-based practice in line with NMC requirements. Longer term, this role offers the opportunity to develop further senior occupational health capability, combining hands-on clinical delivery with leadership, stakeholder engagement and service improvement.

Core Capabilities

  • Senior Clinical Delivery: Provide proactive occupational health nursing services, including treatment, emergency response, fitness to work assessments, Executive Medicals, Health MOTs and appropriate escalation.
  • Health Surveillance and Screening: Deliver or support health surveillance, health screening and health promotion activity, using clinical judgement to help manage workplace health risks and legislative compliance.
  • Leadership and Site Coordination: Act as a senior member of the site team, leading by example, supporting colleagues, maintaining site awareness and working with Clinical Management.
  • Governance and Record Keeping: Ensure efficient recording and sign-off of clinic visits, competency checklists and clinical activity, maintaining evidence-based practice in line with NMC standards and contractual requirements.
  • Communication and Wellbeing Support: Build effective relationships with employees, client managers and clinical colleagues, providing clear advice, mental health signposting and support for wellbeing programme initiatives.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

You will be a Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and a post-registration qualification in Occupational Health at certificate, diploma or degree level. Experience as a Practice Nurse is required, with occupational health, acute nursing and health surveillance experience desirable. You will bring strong communication, organisation, IT and self-management skills, with the confidence to work independently or as part of a team. A current valid driving licence is required.

Work Pattern and Location

This is a full-time, permanent, site-based role in Essex, between Daventry and Dunton sites. Due to the clinical and emergency response nature of the role, regular on-site attendance is required but flexibility can be discussed where appropriate.
